Protect Your Outdoor AC Unit

Start by covering the compressor with a tarp or a sheet of plywood; this will prevent any flying debris from getting lodged in the fan blades and entering the interior. As soon as the storm is over, remove the protective covering.
If the National Weather Service predicts a bad storm is on the horizon — one that could potentially cause a power outage — lower your thermostat settings by a few degrees. Check Your Drainage System
